Owning a home in Sonoma, just off the Historic Plaza, is a dream many have. Here is a chance to make this your Wine Country Retreat or a full time residence. The Mission San Francisco Solano de Sonoma is located on the northeast corner of Sonoma’s Plaza. It was founded in 1823 and the only California mission to be established under Mexican rule. (146 Mission Terrace is located behind the Mission). Sonoma owes its history to the Mexican dons, the brave adventurers who came west, and others who settled this area to grow grapes, produce wine, and farm the land. In 1846 thirty horsemen from the Sacramento Valley rode into Sonoma at dawn on June 14, arrested General Vallejo and his men, hoisted a hastily made Bear Flag of the Republic at the northeast corner of the Plaza and declared California an independent republic – all without firing a shot. A monument marks the spot. In a three block area, the Sonoma Plaza has more than 12 historical sites, first class restaurants, shops, boutiques, wine tasting, museums, movie palace, and a culinary school.
This adorable cottage comes with a lot of charm as well as location. The mixed use zoning with an historic overlay offers the possibility of other uses that could include a bed & breakfast, or vacation rental.
The home features a spacious living room with open beams, and French doors to a rear deck that offers a sheltered space to relax. Three bedrooms and one bathroom, kitchen and breakfast area, washer and dryer hookups, tile pavers in kitchen. There is no need to drive to any of the shops, restaurants, and local events – they are all within a short distance. The front garden features citrus trees and flower gardens. Sitting on the front porch one can enjoy the serene vistas across the garden to the nearby downtown farm with grazing Clydesdale horses.
